How much do you really miss something without even realising??

As you can tell from previous posts and videos I have used up alot of my spare time skateboarding. This happend for various reasons:
a) No waves
b) I was bored with surfing
c) I was angry (note: skateboarding helps release alot of anger)

Anyways, as the story goes I noticed that there was a 2mt swell heading towards the South coast...(First insticnt is that Falesia would be going off).
I decided to see if Ryan fancied a surf seeing as I am on half term and Ryan seems to have no school, although he claims he does.
round 2.15pm on Wednesday, we loaded the things into the car and headed towards Falesia.
There was some swell, not the swell we had hoped for but the wind was killng it.
We decided to check the peak at Marina Hotel as it looked better (it wasn't by the way).
However, we still went for a surf, Ryan, Luke and Moi.
Conditions were average, head high, mushy, wind blowing onshore.....even though they wern't perfect....I still had an amazing time.
It's weird how you completly forget about something you really enjoy......then the next minute you wonder how you could of forgotten all about it.
This is what we call "stoked". Yep, you heard it.....
I shall be back surfing this weekend as we have a big swell with zero wind...looks like its going to be a Falesia Classic.

Faro skatepark: opening 12th September

New school year. New BLOG post

So, it starts all over again......summer holidays are over and we're all back at school.!
Sad, depressing thoughts, i know.....but look on the brightside we get to see all our friends again, make new ones etc etc....all the rest of that shizzle.
The proper good news is that the blog will start up again as I seem to have endless amounts of time now....NOT! (A level work is killer).

As it's September it is now cool enough to skate without the horrible heat of the summer. Ryan's 18th

Hey everyone it is going to be Ryan's 18th Party on Sunday....woop woop.

Firstly, weather permitting, I'm thinking spending the afternoon down at the beach. Between VDL and Dunas. Then at about 7ish, or when the sun starts to set, we kick up the fire, start up the barbecues, and crack open a few beers. Once everyone has eaten and the beer stash has been finished. It's a Hawaiin Themed night out in VDL.

Minimixes

So i'm working on a project called SoulNinjas with my good friend Fresh.
I won't tell you exactly what it is that we do....you will have to try and find out yuorselves by reading the blog or finding sites that link to our project.
One aspect of the project is DJ.
I love to mix songs.....and at present, I'm in to TOO much Drum and Bass.
Last night i created a little mini mix cuse i was bored and was practising for D'n'B night.

I mean Friends.....how can you describe the term "FRIEND".
Each individual will have some different way of describing what a friend is to them.

To me my friends are the people who will always be there for me, always up for doing something....i dunno i find it hard to describe. What i'm trying to get at here is that it's come to my attention that one of my best friends will be leaving at the end of this year, Yes Ryan. It may seem ages away but this year has gone too quickly with exams fast approaching. Two other friends having previously left, Morgan and Hash, I just felt like writing a little post on friends whilst looking through past photos of everyone.

Looking through old pictures (and new) made me want to create a photo/video.

Now the most important...WHO?

Playing for all the steppers we have I-RICK DJ......rocking us rockers with the sound of Drum N' Bass we have the master, SIR_AIVA.
And yes....NUNO FORTE hitting us with the sound of DUBSTEP and D'N'B!! Excited or fucking what??
If that wasn't enough the WHOLE of the downstairs is being used as the floor instead of the small upstairs.
IMPROVED sound system....(i'm actually quite terrified as the last system nearly blew my head off)
AND...
We have some crazy VDJ creating some trippy images to go with the whole atmosphere. F_ACTOR VISUALS if i'm not mistaken.

Be prepared for THE night of beatz....oh and it's only 5euros so don't even think about complaining as we get a free beer with that!

What has the world come to...?

Ok. Well at this very second on this very day (7th March 2009) I am more than pissed off, i think i may even be disgusted!

To get this post going....
LOCALISM defined: 'Territorial or aggresive behaviour over a surf spot or a particular peak. Generally includes outsiders getting 'vibed' or in extreme cases being subjected to violence."

So the story starts off with a nice surf with two brothers, Ryan and Luke, and the rest of the CIMAV crew.
About two hours into the session two bodyboarders turn up and automatically think they are king of the peak or some ridiculous shit like that.
The first move of them pissing everyone off was to drop on me....strike 1.
Second strike involved one guy dropping in on Ryan.
Third strike...the second bodyboarder decided to drop in on me TWICE.

So I decided to drop in on him to see how he liked it....at the end of the wave this guy ends up getting pissed off, starts slapping water at me and screaming insults at me.
I mean what can I say...
(for those of you who don't know much about surfing there is a certain etiquette where who ever is closest to the foam on the breaking wave has priority.)

So this whole argument kicks off
(dialogue - translated into English)
Dick Dragger: "Why the hell did you drop me"

Me: "Because you've been dropping me and friends for the past half an hour."

DD: "But i'm local"

Me: "Point being...?"

DD: "Its my wave!"

Me: "Yeh right mate, get lost."

DD: "What did you say?"

Me: "Get lost"

DD: "Do you know who your speaking to?"

Me: "Yeh, you quite obviously...?"

DD: "Fucking bring it then"


We never actually had a punch up...i went up to him but then he got on his board and paddled away.
Half an hour later when Ryan paddles over again, he starts dropping Ryans waves. He then gets out, about 15mins later and the CIMAV lot are doing training on the beach.

Some guy comes down with the Dick dragger and just comes straight up to me (this guy must of been about 25 or so) and starts letting loose about how the peak is for locals only and shit?
I mean can you actually believe that a 25year old guy is screaming at me about a fucking wave!!!!
So this heated discussion starts kicking off between everyone about locals and why they get the wave...i mean listen to this...

The guys reason for wanting a fight is that "Locals always get the peak (oh and apparently there is a rule about this). As soon as locals turn up everyone has to move away and they are allowed to drop but we're not allowed to drop them."
I mean why this kid had to go get his brother to sort his own mess out i have no idea...pussio!

So my conclusion comes down to this....seriously, what has the world come to when people are acting so violent over a wave! I mean you don't get there on any other wave in the Algarve, everyone is always really welcoming.
It's ridiculous....i hope all the surfers that read this are unwelcoming to all QUARTEIRA dick draggers. Lets see how the "LOCALS ONLY" makes them feel when they go other places.

So im sat in Ict all up to date with my work.
I thought i would write a little post on random things....

The Distillers...

So I happened to leave my iPod in the 6th common room the other day and had realised people were listening to it, Elodie and Aine (just to mention a few names). Anyways story is had got home, switched my iPod on and "The Distillers" were selected already....hmmmm, might aswell listen to them as i havn't heard them in a while and can't be arsed to go searching through bands as I didn't really have a band in mind.
So "Young Crazed Peeling" came on....forgotten how good it was.
Garentee most people will hate this song, but im going to post it anyways as I can't stop listening to it, miss the punk.

Too much Drum & Bass!

Ok, soo just experienced THE sickest D n'B set by the great Sir Aiva.
I had no idea what to expect to be honest, the Dj before, Starfish sound system was just playing club tunes *yawn*. The night was labelled DRUM & BASS....not club!
I was pissed off by this point, but as soon as Sir Aiva hit the decks, i don't think ive ever danced as hard!
Anyways just wanted everyone who didn't go to feel left out.

D 'n' B night....what?

Hmm....so it comes to my attention that Drum and Bass actually exists in the remote Algarve. (Yeh, i didn't believe it to start off with)
After being tagged in a picture on Book of Face by none other than Fresh, I found out that the Drum and Bass scene is actualyl quite big, just very underground!
So tonight being the 28th of Febuary, I believe that it is indeed time for D'n'B night.
If anyone happens to read this post before 11pm tonight...please show up at the venue, should be a good night.

Session One

So turns out I was on my way down to Castro MArim, when i decided to take a little detour down to Tavira Skatepark.
Thought it would turn out to be a little solo session, jsut get some lip tricks dialled.
Ended up being a nice session with Charles and Angie turning up about an hour into my session.
Footage currently being edited....should be up by today (sometime in the early morning).
